MikeG came to town over Labor day weekend, and we were all so happy to get to hang out with him and do some fun things WITH him for once! Following a camp-out in the Rays' living room, we went canoeing on Lake Washington and then had margaritas and amazing Mexican food at Agua Verde!

He left us again shortly after this photo was taken. Boo MikeG!

I think Mike Gee would have excelled at this. In September we took our rubber boats out to Lake Washington as an alternative to driving all the way out to the Yakima river. We tied up to a dock and floated around while drinking and listening to music.

Flopping on Lake Washington

I think Mike Gee would have liked this hike. There were waterfalls, mountain streams you can drink from and there was an old dude with a long beard that hiked the whole way up in sandals. 3600 foot elevation gain in 4 miles in sandals. amazing.

ISA 2006 is Microsoft Proxy software but thats beside the point. Today I got to do something WITH Mike Gee for a change. Mike, thanks a ton for helping me out with that server over the phone.

On a whim, loosely based on her Mii's hair design, Carissa decide to get her hair chopped off. It looks fabulous! She had about ten inches cut off and donated it to Locks of Love.

Carissa, Diane, and myself went to Larrabee Beach State Park just south of Bellingham to enjoy some seaside bouldering and sunshine.

Fancy fern.

On Sunday evening, we went to Casa del Ray. Freelander lit a fire of epic proportions on his second attempt.

Ashley and I took advantage of the lovely weather on Saturday and rode from Capitol Hill to Alki Beach. Mere seconds after the video above was taken, Ashley got clotheslined off of her bicycle by some ropes hanging from the mast of a sailboat whose owners had parked too close to the bike path.

Fortunately, Ashley did not get decapitated or seriously injured and was able to cycle away with only minor rope burns on her neck (and a great story to tell at parties and other social gatherings). Unfortunately, I did not have the camera rolling when the boat grabbed her or we would have also had $100,000 from "America's Funniest Home Videos."

After the incident, we stopped off at a local watering hole and had a glass or two of liquid medicine before continuing safely on our ride home.

On Thursday night, Dan and I played Call of Duty 4 with his neighbor, Geoff. Our games that night were noticeably less, um, stabby than they usually are. However, I managed to come in last pretty regularly just like normal.

Without Mikeg, I locked my keys in my car. And realized that Mikeg has my spare in NYC. After a fun-filled 90-minute long wait for the locksmith that included standing in the rain and wandering around the teeny Capitol Hill branch of the Seattle Public Library, I got back into my car and was able to go rescue my poor pup who had not been outside for 12 hours.

Just kidding. I didn't get locked out, but I did realize I need to get my spare key back. And I made waffles. With Mikeg's waffle iron that he forgot to get backfrom me before he moved. [insert evil laugh here]

Not only did we have drinks by the fire pit but we had a raging fire in the aforementioned fire pit.

At the movies

On Tuesday evening, the Rays, Ashley and I learned about international relations, ballistics, aeronautics, robotics, surgery, ethics, metallurgy and alternate energy sources when we saw a new movie entitled "Iron Man." Though the name of the movie was somewhat misleading - "Gold-titanium Alloy Man" apparently didn't have quite the same ring to it - it was still pretty entertaining.

Dan and Abigail did not actually tongue fight
On Sunday, we ate quesadillas and lentil soup prepared by Carissa at Casa del Ray. After that, we went and had drinks beside the fire pit in their yard.
